PCB
tracking faults can be caused at raw board manufacture, or by handling
issues during assembly processes. Broken tracks can be repaired
by hard wiring but this method may be deemed unsightly by the customer
and is not permanent.
Gold
coated copper tracking is welded between existing track ends to
recreate the original circuit. The energy produced by the welding
equipment causes the gold and copper to fuse together creating a
bond which is as strong as (and in most cases is stronger) than
the original track. The repair is then coated with a colour matched
resist, cured, tested and inspected.
The
diagram on the right allows you to closely inspect a repaired track
- use the left and right buttons to switch between the close and
wide shots.
